Last week in Episode 65 - Moses’ Staff - Exodus 4:3-9, God gives Moses signs to display His power to the Israelites and Pharaoh. We discussed the seemingly positive imagery of the snake as God’s sign and the strength of Moses’ faith, with a short detour on the meeting of an ophidiophobe and an unlucky cat. We left off with a discussion of God’s purpose in plaguing Egypt, pondering whether the plagues were for Egypt or for Israel.
This week in Episode 66 - Moses the Stutterer - Exodus 4:10-23, God’s wrath flares against Moses as the old Israelite wrestles with the command given to him by God. We consider some possible reasons God chose Moses in particular for the task of shepherding His people, think through the quality of God’s wrath against Moses, and ask what it means that Moses ‘shall be a god to Aaron.’ We conclude with a look towards Episode 67 and the discussion of Pharaoh’s hard heartedness.
