Last week in Episode 61 - Moses Survives the Slaughter - Exodus 2, we began with the birth of Moses and his mother’s decision to hide her son, sending him down the Nile where he’ll be found by Pharaoh’s own daughter. We paid close attention to details surrounding Moses’ name, the role of women in this story, and Moses’ murder of the Egyptian.
This week in Episode 62 - Moses Flees Egypt - Exodus 2-3, we follow Moses into the wilderness after he kills an Egyptian man to protect an Israelite. We ask questions of justice and consider Moses’ future role as he who will lead God’s people from Egypt, and find another betrothal scene at a well. Moses then encounters God in the burning bush, a potent image with much meaning to consider. We wrap up, looking ahead to the next episode, with a reflection on the name by which God declares Himself to Moses.
