Last week in Episode 48 - Joseph in Egypt, we returned to Joseph and found that he has been given charge over Potiphar’s household, and drew out the details of this arrangement to understand how Joseph’s time in Egypt acts as a meditation on the Exodus. God’s favor towards and remembrance of Joseph never falters and, as we’ll see in the upcoming lectures, becomes a blessing for all of Egypt and Israel, as well as for Joseph and his brothers.
This week in Episode 49 - Jonah, Chapter 3, the reluctant prophet finally arrives in Nineveh and meets with great success: the Ninevites hear of their impending destruction and respond as would repentant Israelites. We pick up on a parallel between the Ninevite king and King Davis, and we discuss three different types of prophecy encountered in the Hebrew bible.
