Last week in Episode 85 - Manna from Heaven - Exodus 16:1-17, God has given Israelites sweet water to drink but the murmuring continues: what will we eat? Anticipating the Decalogue, God’s ten laws for His people, we paid attention to Israel’s growing pains as they try to learn faith in this God.
This week in Episode 86 - Sabbath in the Wilderness - Exodus 16:18-36, God hears His people’s murmuring and sends down, blessings of honeyed manna and quail for meat. We read these blessings as anti-plagues, which is both a warning for and promise to the Israelites, lest they forget God’s ability to correct His people. In God’s dealing with the stubborn riffraff, we see glimpses of the Mosaic law coming in Chapter 20, when the prophet ascends Mount Sinai.
