Last week in Episode 95 - A Covenant Between God, Moses, and Israel - Exodus 34, Moses sees God and hears His name. A second set of stone tablets is carved to create a new covenant between God and His people and their prophet. Moses’ identity as prophet for God and of God culminates in Chapter 34, with Moses seeing God and becoming radiant with the kavod of God, and pressing God to remain with the Israelites in their sojourning to the promised land.
This week in Episode 96 - Moses Radiates God’s Glory - Exodus 34, Moses descends Sinai and the Israelites are unable to look at his radiant face. We look at the symbolism of Moses’ face being veiled like the Holy of Holies. In the Hebrew Bible, Moses seems to be one of the few characters who undergoes significant character development, and Dr. Jackson challenges the audience to find another character who changes. Wrapping up Exodus, we look forward to reading and analyzing Psalm 90, a psalm of Moses, next week before jumping into First and Second Samuel.
