Last week in Episode 93 - The Golden Calf, Part Three - Exodus 32, the blood of the unfaithful idolaters is spilled after Moses comes down the mountain and hears Aaron’s (partially true) account. We paid close attention to the explicit juxtaposing of Aaron as prophet and Moses as prophet and continue to see Moses’ astounding faith in his people and God. Moses rebukes his people the Israelites and then goes to God on their behalf, even offering himself up as an atonement for their violence and idolatry.
This week in Episode 94 - Moses, Prophet of the One God - Exodus 33, we see the characters of God and Moses become closer and closer in likeness in terms of love for the unfaithful Israelites. God once again tests Moses’ gumption as Israel’s prophet, and Moses holds God to account to protect and stay with His people. Moses seeks intimacy with God, and the dialogue between the two in Chapter 33 sets Moses in a position to finally see God next chapter.
