[FREE] This Week: The Joseph Story, Part One - Genesis 37 | HDYRI Newsletter #39
Week of 6/28/24
Last week in Episode 41, our focus shifted from Jacob to his children, and we tried to untangle the brutal, bizarre story of the rape of Dinah, Jacob’s daughter. Jacob seems to sit by passively as his sons plot and commit violence against their sister’s defilers and, as the end of the story suggests, Dinah’s captors.
This week in Episode 42, we finally arrive at the story of Joseph and work through our first encounter with Jacob’s favorite son. We discuss how the narrative first presents Joseph to the reader and begin thinking about Judah as the hero of the Joseph story, a line we will unfold as the narrative progresses.
